Simon Christie studied singing at Victoria University, New Zealand and the Amsterdam Conservatorium, The Netherlands. He studied under Udo Reinemann where he completed his postgraduate study in 2002 and undertook further postgraduate study with De Nieuwe Opera Academie in Den Haag and Amsterdam under Sandy Oliver.
During his study years he participated in masterclasses with Roger Vignoles, Graham Johnson, Rudolf Jansen, Graham Clark and Mark Tucker.
In New Zealand where he began his career, Simon appeared in many oratorios, opera and solo recitals.
In The Netherlands and Europe he has continued his singing career featuring in solo recitals and oratorios including the Stuttgart Kunstkeller Festival Germany, Montedon Festival France, the Emeilia Romagna Festival Italy and the Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia.
Simon performs regularly the Bach's St Matthew and St John Passion, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation, Mozart's Requiem and Rossini's Petite Messe Sollenelle amongst others with choirs and orchestras throughout the Netherlands.
He has performed many opera roles including Papageno (Opera Academie), Figaro (Opera Academie), Masetto (Opera Marzimino), Le Fauteuil-L'enfant et les sortileges (Opera Academie), Mydas-Die schoene Galathee(Opera Trionfo), Cacatois-L'ile du tulipatan(Opera Trionfo), Hans (De Nieuwe Nederlands Operetta), Don Alfonso, Ben (The Telephone) and Lichas (Hercules).
